Popular Types Of Aircraft Batteries
Two popular types of batteries that are used for aircraft are the Odyssey and Concorde batteries. The Odyssey aircraft battery is an FAA-PMA certified sealed aircraft battery for Piper models PA18 and PA19. It can be used for other makes of aircraft, but does require local FAA field certification. This battery is non-spillable US DOT and IATA classified for safe shipping via UPS.

The Odyssey battery is of drycell design for mounting in any orientation and has fully aerobatic use. It does provide for a 2-year storage life to 50% state of charge when stored at 77° F (25° C) 70% of rated and starting power delivered at -40° F (-20° C). This battery is military grade for excellent vibration resistance and high G loading.

The Concorde aircraft batteries are hand-crafted to the highest quality control standards and provide reliability and duration. Concorde batteries are heavy duty batteries that provide greater power for starting at cold temperatures and emergency performance. These batteries come with pressure relief safety valves, heavy duty intercell welds, durable polypropylene containers and covers, and thick positive plates.
